When we founded Less, face oils were a niche product. That has changed fundamentally. Almost every skincare brand now offers face oils in addition to their creams, lotions, serums and toners. The oils are often advertised with photos of models using a pipette to drizzle the oil directly onto their (dry) face. However, on dry skin, oils are barely absorbed. Instead, they block the skin's excretory function and air exchange, causing dry skin to become even drier and blemished skin to become even more blemished. Correct application is crucial so that face oils can work to their full effect.
Application with plenty of warm water
In skin care, oils should always be applied with as much warm water as possible. The warm water opens the pores and blends with the oil to form an emulsion. The result is a type of moisturizer that is free of the emulsifiers and preservatives normally required in creams and lotions.
Less Face Oil is best applied directly at the end of a shower, while still in the shower. At this point, the skin is maximally hydrated and the pores are open. For application, put about a pipette of Less Face Oil in your wet hands and massage it into your wet face. Do not dry it off, but let it get absorbed by the skin. The oil-water emulsion provides the skin with rich nourishment, repairs the skin's protective mantle and immediately binds all the moisture that is still in the skin from the shower. The result is healthy and beautiful skin free of any irritations.

Adapt your skincare routine in winter
The condition of the skin depends strongly on climatic conditions. In winter, the skin is often drier than usual, because heated air indoors and cold air outside lead to lower humidity and thus less external hydration for the skin. If you normally use the Less Face Oil Light, you may want to use the richer Less Face Oil Plus in the winter. If you already treat your skin with the richer oil, then you might need a higher dosage than usual. This is perfectly normal. Once milder temperatures arrive, you can switch back to the lighter oil or a lower dosage.

Water mist as a moisturizer
Since the skin gets most of its moisture from the outside through humidity, we have a tip to relieve dryness in winter. Use a water sprayer – for example, the small atomizers used for perfume, which are also ideal for traveling – and spray the skin from time to time. The fine mist of water can be easily absorbed by the skin and provides a soothing and calming supply of external hydration.
